Abstract(s)
The adoption of good energy management practices alongside the energy transition is currently having a greater impact on organizations. In this sense, there are more and more tools to support energy management systems. The main means of promoting a reduction in energy consumption and consequent reduction in environmental impact is through the publication and updating of the ISO 50001 standard, the aim of which is to help organizations establish, implement, maintain and continually improve their energy management systems. A systematic approach is created to achieve continuous improvement in energy performance, including efficiency, energy use and consumption. This type of system is implemented by developing processes such as defining the organization's energy policy, setting goals and objectives, collecting and processing data and monitoring the performance of the energy management system. Updating and maintaining the ISO 50001 standard demonstrates our commitment to the evolution of good energy management practices, ensuring their relevance and effectiveness in the face of energy and environmental challenges in the current context. The main aim of this dissertation is to integrate the requirements of ISO 50001 into the existing Integrated Management System at Schmitt Elevadores, Lda. In order to achieve this goal, an in-depth study of the standard and of the various literature associated with energy management was carried out, followed by an assessment of the company's current state through a GAP analysis. The project was thus divided into two phases. The first phase refers to the implementation of the standard's requirements. The second phase deals with the specific requirements of ISO 50001, with the need to define new approaches to energy planning, focusing on the areas identified as the biggest energy consumers.
