Este trabalho tem como objetivo desenvolver uma proposta de modelo de gestão e produção ágil
orientado a comunidades de projetos abertos (Open Design). Open Design é um movimento que
procura promover a colaboração e a transparência na criação de projetos, e neste caso, aplicando se os princípios ágeis. A agilidade surgiu como uma estratégia de resposta e adaptação à
complexidade e ambientes incertos. A combinação desses dois conceitos permite uma melhor
adaptação às mudanças e entrega de valor para o cliente de forma rápida e eficiente. Nesta
dissertação, explora-se a convergência entre a agilidade e o conceito de Open Design, que enfatiza
a colaboração, a participação e a transparência na criação de produtos, serviços e sistemas.
Comunidades de Open Design reúnem-se para desenvolver projetos de forma colaborativa e
aberta, compartilhando conhecimentos, recursos e ferramentas com o foco na inovação e objetivos
comuns. Ao unir a abordagem de Open Design à gestão e produção ágil, este estudo visa melhorar
a eficiência e eficácia dos projetos, especialmente aqueles que envolvem a colaboração de
múltiplas partes interessadas. A integração dos princípios ágeis e das práticas de comunicação
aberta e colaborativa permite criar um ambiente dinâmico, flexível e adaptável, orientado para o
utilizador final. Isso possibilita que as equipas se ajustem rapidamente a mudanças e imprevistos,
minimizando riscos e maximizando a eficiência. Além disso, a abertura e a colaboração entre as
comunidades fornecem acesso a um vasto conjunto de especialistas e ideias. A experiência e a
iteração contínua permitem melhorias constantes nos projetos. Salienta-se que a gestão eficaz de
projetos abertos (Open Design) exige a compreensão e a adoção dos princípios da agilidade. Os
objetivos desta dissertação incluem a compreensão das dinâmicas de gestão em comunidades de
projetos abertos, a identificação dos desafios de gestão que enfrentam e a avaliação do impacto
desses desafios na eficiência dos projetos. Além disso, examinam-se as métricas de sucesso em
comunidades de código aberto e propõem-se a aplicação de um modelo de gestão ágil em uma
plataforma de código aberto para avaliar sua relevância e eficácia. A metodologia adotada envolve
uma análise detalhada da literatura existente e casos de estudo para compreender a dinâmica
específica das comunidades de projetos abertos. Esta dissertação procura contribuir para a
compreensão e o aprimoramento da gestão de projetos em comunidades de Open Design,
promovendo a inovação e a eficácia desses projetos e, assim, fornecendo uma base sólida para a
melhoria contínua no domínio da engenharia.
This work aims to develop a proposal for an agile management and production model oriented towards open project communities (Open Design). Open Design is a movement that seeks to promote collaboration and transparency in project creation, and in this case, applying agile principles. Agility emerged as a strategy for responding and adapting to complexity and uncertain environments. The combination of these two concepts allows for better adaptation to changes and delivers value to the client quickly and efficiently. In this dissertation, the convergence between agility and the concept of Open Design, which emphasizes collaboration, participation, and transparency in the creation of products, services, and systems, is explored. Open Design communities come together to develop projects collaboratively and openly, sharing knowledge, resources, and tools with a focus on innovation and common objectives. By joining the Open Design approach to agile management and production, this study aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of projects, especially those involving collaboration from multiple stakeholders. Integrating agile principles and practices of open and collaborative communication creates a dynamic, flexible, and adaptable environment, oriented towards the end user. This allows teams to quickly adjust to changes and unforeseen events, minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency. Moreover, the openness and collaboration among communities provide access to a vast array of specialists and ideas. Experience and continuous iteration allow for constant improvements in projects. It is emphasized that effective management of open projects (Open Design) requires understanding and adopting the principles of agility. The objectives of this dissertation include understanding the management dynamics in open project communities, identifying the management challenges they face, and assessing the impact of these challenges on project efficiency. Additionally, success metrics in open-source communities are examined, and the application of an agile management model on an open-source platform is proposed to evaluate its relevance and effectiveness. The adopted methodology involves a detailed analysis of existing literature and case studies to understand the specific dynamics of open project communities.
