Com a evoluĆ§Ć£o da Internet houve uma consequente transformaĆ§Ć£o da forma como os
resultados sĆ£o apresentados e das tĆ©cnicas de visualizaĆ§Ć£o e apresentaĆ§Ć£o de conteĆŗdos.
A presente dissertaĆ§Ć£o Ć© sobre visualizaĆ§Ć£o com nuvens de tags e foi a conjugaĆ§Ć£o de
diversos factores que originou a investigaĆ§Ć£o sobre este tema. Uma nuvem de tags (em
inglĆŖs: tag clouds) Ć© uma concepĆ§Ć£o visual de um conjunto de tags isoladas com uma
representaĆ§Ć£o ilustrativa da sua importĆ¢ncia, ou seja visualmente hierarquizadas e em que
cada tag se hiperliga a um ou mais sĆtios Web ou documentos.
SĆ£o extremamente Ćŗteis para a navegaĆ§Ć£o ou para a descoberta de informaĆ§Ć£o genĆ©rica,
podendo requerer menor carga cognitiva do utilizador durante consultas e pesquisas se
alguns aspectos forem considerados na sua construĆ§Ć£o. Nesta dissertaĆ§Ć£o discutem-se
alguns dos factores visuais que podem contribuir para que as nuvens de tags sejam
ferramentas efectivas e intuitivas para os utilizadores.
O conceito de folksonomia estĆ” relacionado com nuvens de tags, permitindo categorizar as
definiƧƵes atribuĆdas a conteĆŗdos recorrendo a palavras-chave (tags). Neste documento sĆ£o
ainda exploradas as suas vantagens e desvantagens.
Discutem-se ainda alguns modos de visualizaĆ§Ć£o e apresentaĆ§Ć£o de nuvens de tags, desde
o tipo de ordenaĆ§Ć£o ao algoritmo de geraĆ§Ć£o da nuvem de tags. Aborda-se ainda o impacto
do tipo de fonte e a utilizaĆ§Ć£o de cores monocromĆ”ticas ou coloridas que estas possam ter
na visualizaĆ§Ć£o da nuvem. A prĆ³pria tag tambĆ©m Ć© categorizada e explorada ao nĆvel do seu
posicionamento na nuvem e a percepĆ§Ć£o que causa no utilizador.
Sobre a visualizaĆ§Ć£o de nuvens de tags, refere-se ainda que as conclusƵes obtidas foram
utilizadas num repositĆ³rio de objectos educativos.
Along with Internet evolution there was a consequent transformation on how the results are presented, as well as on the visualization and presentation techniques of content generated by user research. The present work is about tag clouds and a combination of several factors led to research on this subject. Tag clouds are visual representation of a set of tags whose font size is dependent on its importance, which is visually graded and each tag is linked to one or more websites or documents. Tag clouds are extremely useful for navigation or to find generic information which may require less cognitive load of the user during navigations if some aspects are considered in their construction. This dissertation brings to light the visual factors that may contribute to tag clouds to be considered as an effective and intuitive tool for users. The concept of folksonomy is related with tag clouds and allows categorizing content by using keywords. In this document their advantages and disadvantages are explored. We also explore further visualization modes and different types of tag clouds, through the type of ordination to the algorithm used to generate the tag cloud. Furthermore, it is studied the impact of different font and color usage, in the visualization of the cloud. The tag itself is also categorized and explored at their location in the cloud and the perception that causes in the user. About this subject we also refer the conclusions obtained were used in a repository of learning objects.
