Abstract(s)
This essay was developed in the mass laboratory facilities of the extinct Direção Regional da Economia do Norte (DRE-Norte), in the context of my Dissertation / Project / Traineeship (DPEPR) Master's course of Instrumentation and Metrology (MEIM) at the the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP). The mass laboratory of DRE-Norte was dedicated, among other activities, to the calibration of F1 accuracy classes of weights and lower, as defined by the recommendation R111-1:2004 of the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), for nominal values from 1 mg to 1 000 kg. A real world calibration system using two laboratory mass comparators, with wired and wireless data communication interfaces to the PC (Personal Computer) for automatized data acquisition, was implemented. A Visual Basic based software application was developed in order to connect the mass comparators to the PC and automatize the metrological ABBA process of mass calibrations The developed software has been applied in a real world context of weights calibration in an intercomparision laboratory environment with the participation of seven national laboratories as well as in the mass laboratory of DRE-Norte.
