Abstract(s)
The realization of this Thesis/Dissertation has the goal to study and implement a pilot Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) in Swedwood Portugal, in which I perform the functions of Process Engineer in the assembly lines of furniture. It was realized a study of company needs for the processes improvements in the assembly lines, in order to improve the assembly of semi-product, raw material quality, operation and equipment performance. This study reached the conclusion that there is the need to control the quality of raw materials that are used in the assembly of semi-product in real time, so that it is possible to reduce the complexity in the timely collection of samples by the operating elements and decrease the delay in delivery of results of the samples by the laboratory. The glue is a critical element in the assembly of semi-product, due to changes in viscosity, as a consequence of the variations in the weather conditions to which it was subjected, since the departure of the supplier until being ready to use on the assembly lines. With this purpose, a solution was conceived to provide a faster response in the quality control of the glue, based on polyvinyl acetate (PVAC), ie, the pilot implementation of a SCADA system in the glue room, so that there is a control of temperature and humidity, real time viscosity control and level control of the glue in its container, making possible only one supervision by the operating elements. We chose a set of SIMATIC hardware and software developed by Siemens, for the implementation of the programming and development of Human Machine Interface (HMI).
