  • An analysis about the resources selection process in agile/virtual enterprises
Publication . Pires, António; Putnik, Goran; Ávila, Paulo
We intend in the context of this work, to do an analysis on studies, literary revisions and mainly on existent models, in the universe of virtual enterprises resources selection, in order to allow us to put on perspective, in a sustainable way, new slopes to be incorporated that contributes to an improvement of the whole global process. This analysis for the A/VE was focused in several areas and basic slopes for the whole global process of the problem in question, namely in terms of the pre-selection phases and requisites; selection phases, requisites and methods; mathematical models, used tools and other important areas. There were incorporated the decision process of create an A/VE project and the requisites of the process principal phases. We approach the essential aspects for the work that is intended to develop, such as the integration of the existent models with the tasks plan (PT) of the product, namely if there are contemplated the eformulation and evaluation of the PT, and other important characteristics such as the weighting of resources and the incorporation of the value concept in the existent models, being that in our opinion an integration of a methodology of the type of Value Analysis will be able to incorporate surplus values in all this process. Conclusions were withdrawn on the whole global process, pointing to gaps and limitations and trying to do an approach which allows to sinthetize and put in perspective an efficient analysis of the whole extent of the problem in question.
  • Resources selection for agile-ivirtual enterprises: part i - model for value analysis integration
Publication . Pires, António; Putnik, Goran; Ávila, Paulo
The markets globalization requires companies to continually invest in innovation, competitiveness and excellence. It is important to create a value culture in companies, through methods such as Value Analysis (VA). Nowadays a product is often produced with contributions from several companies and the concept of Agile/Virtual Enterprises (A/V E) emerged and developed. In this work, we propose an activity model of VA integration in the resources pre-selection process for AN E. It was made a literary revision of the existent models of resources selection in AN E in order to identify the main limitations and gaps of the process and assess the relevance of our work. We built the VA integration activity model and defined the VA stages to incorporate in the pre-selection process. An integration of a methodology of the type of VA will be able to incorporate surplus value in this process and leads to a better dynamic organizational integration. The VA integration brings a systematic and organized process in order to guarantee a higher value and more confidence in the resources system, contributing to a more sustainable configuration process of the AN E.
  • Value analysis as a mechanism to reduce the complexity of the selection of the resources system for Agile/Virtual Enterprises in the context of Industry 4.0
Publication . Ávila, Paulo; Pires, António; Putnik, Goran; Bastos, João; Cruz-Cunha, Maria
The selection of the resources system (SRS) is an important element in the integration/project of Agile/Virtual Enterprises (A/V E) because its performance is dependent of this selection, and even of its creation. However, it remains a difficult matter to solve because is still a very complex and uncertain problem. We propose that using Value Analysis (VA) in the pre-selection of resources phase represents a significant improvement of the SRS process. The current literature fails to formally address the pre-selection phase and none of the resource selection models incorporate the resources value and its consequence in the complexity of the selection process. Whereby, ours developed model with VA constitutes an innovative approach towards greater sustainability in the configuration of A/V E in the context of Industry 4.0, where a massive interconnection among enterprises is expected and consequently the increase of the selection process complexity. After the construction of a demonstrator tool for a set of the problem formulations, this paper verifies by computational results the thesis regarding the benefits of applying VA to the SRS process: VA reduces the complexity of the SRS process, even ensuring that the final system of resources achieve higher quality/value grade.
