- Adjusting the base of support and trunk orientation in children with neuromotor disorders - Immediate effects on maximal respiratory pressuresPublication . Rocha, Isabella Morgado; Alexandrino, Ana Silva; Araújo, DanielaThe ventilatory and posturl relationship results from the dual role of the central nervous system which, in case of dysfunction, can induce changes in the respiratory and neromusculoskeletal systems. This study aims to investigate the influence of modifying the base of support and trunk orienttaion in sitting position, through proprioceptive afferences, on Maximal Respiratory Pressures (MRP) in children with central nervous system dysfunction. In addition, it was intended to verify the impacto f the type of brething (nasal or oral) and motor classification (spastic or non-spastic). Pre-experimental longitudinal study, consisting of 10 volunteers, ages between 6 and 18-year-old with central nervous system dysfunction. Maximal respiratory pressures and crânio-cervical-trunk orientation were measured before (MO) and immediately after (M1) physiotherapy intervention, based on the modification of the base of support and, consequentely, trunk orientation, through proprioceptive afferences in a sitting position. With the intervention, there were significant diferences in both Maximal Inspiratory pressure (MIP) and Maximal Expiratory Pressure (MEP) (MIPMO=25.00±29.0 vs MIPM1=33.50±42.0; p=0.016 and MEPMO35.50±42,00 vs MEPM1=38,00±27,00; p=0,016) and in the craniocervical angle (CA) (CAMO=32.35±7.73 vs CAM1=41.09±9.80; p=0.010). There also seem to be diferences between the maximal inspiratory pressure in relation to the type of breath (p=0.038), ando f motor condition (p=0.032). Maximal respiratory pressures appear to be influenced by the intervention. In addition, the intervention may have differently influenced the maximal inspiratory pressure of children with nasal versus oral breathing, as well as the spastic versus non-spastic motor pattern.
- Virtual reality exposure therapy for armed forces veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: a systematic review and focus groupPublication . Vianez, Ana Claúdia Gordo; Marques, Antonio; Almeida, Raquel Simões deThis study aims to determine the guidelines for designing a Virtual Reality - War Scenario program for Armed Forces veterans diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This article encompasses two studies: Study 1, a systematic review of eleven articles indexed in the databases B-on, PubMed, Clinical trials and Cochrane Library; Study 2, a focus group of Portuguese armed forces veterans, discussed the outline of such a programme. A set of guidelines were identified as central and consensual, which should be included in the program. This type of program must have a realistic, multisensorial and interactive approach that allows veterans to re-adapt to their past, which is still so present. Virtual reality offers veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder unlimited opportunities, enhancing a personalized intervention. The results support the use of VRET as an efficacious treatment for combat-related PTSD, but suggest nevertheless, VRET, as a co-creation process, requires more controlled and in-depth research on their clinical applicability.
- The impact of a museum in a community – interferências 1.0 study casePublication . Costa, Filipa Oliveira; Silva, Manuel Fernando Moreira daThis report covers the curricular internship from Porto Accounting and Business School’s Master degree in Intercultural Studies for Business. The internship was completed at Museu da Chapelaria, a museum located in the city of São João da Madeira. In today’s technologically evolved culture, museums may help connect what used to be to what has changed and will become. This means that museums put our society into perspective, and through new communication strategies such as digital transformation, they can create new ideas to stay relevant and unique. The digital transformation brought new work schedules and regulations to museums. Once they were closed due to the Covid-19 situation, remote work and digital promotion were essential. The market started a need for innovation and strategies to keep giving the public access to culture. Due to the public’s demand for immediate consumption, a museum’s ability to adapt to society's social and economic changes is valuable. In recent years, in response to growing market demand in the cultural sector, museums have been forced to use more attractive technological resources and, as a result, engage more effectively with the public. Thus, the use of marketing has emerged spontaneously in the development and increase of cultural offerings. Furthermore, museums are connecting even more with the community they are inserted in and the type of culture consumers they want to attract. The objective of this report is to present and analyze the internship at Museu da Chapelaria and portray in full detail the tasks carried out throughout the internship related to the museums and the project Interferências 1.0 (which promotes access to culture for more vulnerable groups in society), alluding to the new strategies that were created for the new type of work situation the world is living in.
Correia, Mariana Conceição Alves; Silva, Armando Mendes Jorge Nogueira daEfficient working capital management is a key factor in corporate management practices, as it determines the ability of companies to meet their short-term needs. In addition, inventory management is also recognised as a decisive parameter due to its influence on the functioning of other strategic areas of the supply chain. This study aims to understand the impact of working capital management on the financial performance of Portuguese companies in the retail sector and, additionally, to understand the influence of inventory management on the profitability of these companies. Based on data from 1.011 Portuguese retail firms in the period 2011 to 2020, regressions were estimated using the fixed effects model, and different profitability metrics were selected: Operating Return on Assets, Gross Margin on Sales and Earnings before Interest and Taxes on Sales. The results found reveal a statistically significant relationship between working capital and inventory management variables on corporate profitability. The relation between working capital and inventory management variables and the dependent variable Operational Profitability of Assets suggests that an aggressive working capital management and lower inventories tend to increase corporate profitability. In the same analysis, using Gross Margin on Sales as the dependent variable, the results suggest that a reduction in the average receivables term can lead to an increase in profitability. Using Earnings before Interest and Taxes on sales as the dependent variable, the relation found suggests that an increase in the average receivables term, as well as an increase in the weight of inventories may provide a boost to firms' profitability.
Estas bactérias constituem o Grupo SPICE/SPACE (K): Serratia spp, pseudomonas spp, Indol Positivo Proteae (providencia spp e Morganella spp), Acinetobacter spp, Citrobacter spp, Enterobacter spp e Klebsiella aerogenes.
Pereira, Vânia Maria da Silva; Pinto, José Agostinho de Sousa; Almeida, Paula de Fátima Peres TeixeiraThe globalization and the current market demands, as well as the competitiveness between companies, brought about a change in how they operate. The automotive sector is one of the most technologically evolved sectors due to the great challenges it faces nowadays, such as the case of futuristic cars being autonomous in driving. According to the Directorate-General for economic activities (Dgae) (2021) this sector is characterized by a volatile economy, strongly affected positively or negatively, by the economy. The automotive industry is very complex in terms of management as it has to focus on several aspects in order to be able to face the fierce competition in the current difficult economic scene, as well as being capable of responding quickly to it’s customers. One of the great differentiating factors between companies is related to the ability to innovate, retain human resources, as well as manage and provile organizational knowledge. There are some knowledge management models that contribute to the improvement in the application, modification and sharing of existing knowledge in companies. In the present investigation, the knowledge management models of Takeuchi and Nonaka, Wiig and the Delta Mais (Δ+) will be addressed. Additionaly, the purpose of this investigation is to determine potencial benefits from the applying of the Δ+ knowledge management model in the studied economic group. In order to carry out this investigation, the case study methodology was applied to a group in the automobile sector that has several different business companies, but all of them are linked to the automobile industry. The investigation will be carried out through interviews that will be conducted with directors of the group’s business. This study aims to demonstrate the advantages of using the Δ+ organizational knowledge management model.

Silva, Creudinei da; Silva, Luís António da Silva; Azevedo, Ana Isabel Rojão Lourenço deThe culture focused on the use of data in the business environment has grown year after year, either because of the substantial increase in data generated through the various equipment and mobile devices, or because of the growing level of demand required by the market, which consequently demands greater precision of companies in getting to know their customers better and better and this consequently increases the competitiveness among the companies. Thus, we have large companies with their high investments in technologies and their growing commitment to developing new solutions that allow them to collect, process and use the largest possible volume of data, as they have already understood the importance of data in their routine. Proof of this, is that a large part of their decisions are making based on this data, which consequently reflects on their results. On the other hand, we have micro, small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) which, despite playing a fundamental role in the countries economy, generating wealth and employing a large proportion of active professionals, have still not been able to extract the best from their own data. It is in this scenario that this work is inserted, as a dedicated solution was developed to analyze the data generated by SMEs in Portugal, focusing on the sales departments of these companies. To develop this work, the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology and its activities were applied, which resulted in the development of an artifact, a term used in DSR, but in this work we will consider it as a "solution", capable of analyzing large volumes of data and provide insights that can serve as a basis for these companies when decision making. To reach this result, it was necessary to conduct interviews with specialists working in the sales area, who indicated the main information needed to assess sales performance in a company. Based on the answers obtained, a solution was developed that has several dashboards and after this development, it underwent an expert evaluation, who evaluated it in a positive way, recognizing that the developed solution will support managers in decision-making.
