- Feasibility and preliminary efficacy of an internet-based cognitive behavioural Lifestyle Redesign intervention for assessing and improving anxiety and depression in breast cancer survivors using passive sensing dataPublication . Silva, Isis Marcelly Santos Braz da; Santos, Cristina Mendes; Almeida, Raquel Simões de; Sousa, Sara CristinaBreast cancer is one of the most prevalent neoplasms and is associated with persistent physical and psychological symptmos that compromise the quality of life of survivors (BCS). Digital interventions, such as internet-based cognitive behavioural theraphy (iCBT), combined with Lifestyle Redesign (LR) and passive sensing technologies (PS), have the potential to provide scalable and personalized support. This pilot study aimed to evaluate the acceptability, feasibility, and preliminary efficacy of the iNNOV Breast Cancer (iNNOVBC) program, an iCBT intervention integrated with LR and complemented by passive technologies, compared with treatment as usual (TAU). A randomized controlled pilot trial was conducted in two oncology centers, involving 35 BCS with mild/moderate symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. Results showed high acceptability: 72% (91/126) of participants consenting to participate. Adherence was satisfactory: 72% (n= 18/25) of participants who started completed more than half of the intervention modules. Although no statistically significant differences were observed between groups, promising trends were noted in anxiety, depression and insomnia in the experiemntal group. In conclusion, iNNOVBC is an acceptable and feasible intervention with potential to promote mental health and quality of life in BCS, supporting the need for future studies with larger samples to assess its efficacy.
