Silva, Dora Paiva; Queirós, Mário Joel Matos Veiga de OliveiraNowadays, is essential to make entities aware of the existence of an adequate internal control system, regardless of their size and organizational complexity. An adequate internal control system aims to help achieve strategic, operational, reporting and compliance objectives of any entity. In this study are identified the internal control procedures and practices in place in the organization and are presented suggestions for the betterment of the existing internal control system. In the end, is formalized an internal control manual that contributes for the continuous improvement of the organization and provides safety and stability for the activities, reporting and decision-making processes. In carrying out this project, it was decided to prepare a questionnaire to study internal control procedures, both formal and informal, in order to assess existing procedures and detect recommendations for improvement. Based on the results, an internal control manual was prepared adapted to the needs and size of the entity.
