dc.description.abstractA variação linguística é um fenómeno universal, diretamente resultante de fatores geográficos, socioeconómicos, entre vários outros. Esta correlação entre as características fonéticas, lexicais e morfossintáticas de uma dada variante e características contextuais como o tempo e o espaço em que esta existe significa que a variante estará sempre associada a uma região, estrato social ou grupo específico de indivíduos, tornando-se única e irrepetível. A recriação destas variantes na literatura suscita assim diversas questões e problemáticas tradutológicas, devido a essa singularidade contextual que deve ser transposta para a tradução de forma a esta fazer sentido e ser aceite na cultura de chegada. Pretende-se com o presente trabalho explorar este fenómeno, a forma como a recriação de variantes linguísticas não padrão é usada para caracterizar personagens no mundo literário e as possíveis estratégias para a tradução dessas recriações, bem como analisar exemplos concretos nas três obras de Robert Galbraith traduzidas para português europeu até à data e propor possíveis traduções para alguns excertos do quarto livro, ainda não publicado em português europeu.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractLinguistic variation is a universal phenomenon that directly results from geographic and socioeconomic factors, among others. This correlation between the phonetic, lexical and morphosyntactic features of a given variety and contextual features such as the time and space in which it exists means that the variety will always be associated with a certain region, social class or specific group of individuals, thus becoming unique and unrepeatable. Because of that, the reimagining of these varieties in literature raises several translative questions and issues, due to that contextual uniqueness that must somehow be transferred from the source text to the translation so that the latter makes sense and is accepted in the context of the target culture. This paper intends to explore this phenomenon, the way that nonstandard linguistic varieties are recreated in literature for the purpose of characterisation, and the possible strategies to be used in the translation of said recreated varieties, as well as analyse specific examples from the three Robert Galbraith novels that have so far been translated into European Portuguese and propose possible translation choices for some examples of the fourth book, not yet translated into the aforementioned language.pt_PT
