A sustentabilidade remete-se à capacidade de desenvolver meios para atender as necessidades básicas do presente sem comprometer a capacidade das gerações futuras, relacionando ações nas dimensões econômicas, sociais, culturais e ambientais. A preocupação com a sustentabilidade está em ascensão e ações precisam ser realizadas para fortalecer o tema, pois não é um tópico vencido, mas pesquisas como esta, podem contribuir para a melhoria e principalmente aferição da sustentabilidade. No sentindo de fortalecer as práticas relacionadas ao tema no IFMT, esta dissertação tem o objetivo principal de propor um índice para aferir as ações de sustentabilidade. A metodologia desta pesquisa classifica-se como exploratória e descritiva, através de uma análise de abordagem mista e com recurso de estudo de caso múltiplo. As técnicas utilizadas incluem a revisão bibliográfica e análise de conteúdo. Os métodos de recolha de dados são a entrevista estrutura e observação direta participante com visita in loco, além da utilização de dados abertos. Para alcançar o objetivo principal foram identificadas as dimensões caracterizadoras da sustentabilidade e as variáveis relevantes ao contexto do IFMT. Em seguida o índice foi desenvolvido com base na revisão bibliográfica e construída uma ferramenta de avaliação no software Microsoft Office Excel. A validação foi conduzida utilizando uma amostra de três unidades. Os dados coletados foram planilhados e analisados usando a ferramenta criada. Como resultado as três unidades obtiveram as notas 48,15%, 55,13% e 65,08%, respectivamente, o que indica que as ações de sustentabilidade nos campis do IFMT são variáveis, porém conclui-se que o índice é aplicável e os resultados foram comparados com a literatura. Neste sentido, espera-se fornecer à instituição um conjunto de indicadores abrangentes, além de dados para fundamentar decisões quanto a investimentos e alocações de recursos, a fim de fortalecer a atuação da instituição no campo da sustentabilidade.
Sustainability refers to the ability to develop means to meet the basic needs of the present without compromising the capacity of future generations, relating actions in the economic, social, cultural and environmental dimensions. Concern about sustainability is on the rise and actions need to be taken to strengthen the issue, as it is not an overdue topic, but research such as this can contribute to improving and, above all, measuring sustainability. With a view to strengthening sustainability-related practices at IFMT, the main aim of this dissertation is to propose an index to measure sustainability actions. The methodology of this research is categorised as exploratory and descriptive, using a mixed approach analysis and a multiple case study. The techniques used include a literature review and content analysis. The data collection methods are interview structure and direct participant observation with on-site visits, as well as the use of open data. To achieve the main objective, the dimensions characterising sustainability and the variables relevant to the IFMT context were identified. The index was then developed based on the literature review and an evaluation tool was built using Microsoft Office Excel software. Validation was carried out using a sample of three units. The data collected was spreadsheeted and analysed using the tool created. As a result, the three units scored 48.15%, 55.13% and 65.08% respectively, which indicates that sustainability actions on IFMT campuses are variable, but it is concluded that the index is applicable and the results were compared with the literature. In this sense, it is hoped to provide the institution with a set of comprehensive indicators, as well as data on which to base decisions regarding investments and resource allocations, in order to strengthen the institution's performance in the field of sustainability.
