O nome reflete a nossa realidade, as nossas origens, religião, época, país e género. Com o presente projeto avançado, pretendemos realizar uma breve resenha histórica pela origem do nome e a sua importância. Verificando ainda, a importância jurídica deste, a importância do Registo Civil, do registo do nome e a sua evolução em Portugal. O direito à autodeterminação da identidade de género e expressão de género e à proteção das características sexuais de cada pessoa encontra-se previsto na Lei n.º 38/2018, de 7 de agosto, que veio revogar a Lei n.º 7/2011, de 15 de março que por sua vez criou o procedimento de mudança de sexo e de nome próprio no registo civil. O presente trabalho visa verificar a importância que o nome demonstra para o direito de autodeterminação da identidade de género. Levantando ainda, algumas questões que pela nossa perspetiva, demonstram-se importantes para o efetivo reconhecimento da identidade de género, como por exemplo o reconhecimento do género não-binário e a maior proteção das pessoas intersexo.The name is one of the most important forms of distinction in society, it is a sign of individualization before family, friends and colleagues. The name reflects our reality, our origins, religion, time, country and gender. With this advanced project, we intend to carry out a brief historical review by the origin of the name and its importance. Whilst verifying its legal importance, the importance of the Civil Registry, the registration of the name and its evolution in Portugal. The right to experience, express, or identify thier gender and to protect the sexual characteristics of each person is provided for in Law No. 38/2018 of August 7, which repealed Law No. 7/2011 of March 15, which in turn created the procedure for change of sex and first name in the civil registry.
