O objetivo geral desta investigação é analisar as representações da loucura nas personagens femininas das óperas românticas, explorando como esse tema reflete, e ao mesmo tempo, questiona as normas sociais e culturais da época. Para tal, a análise do repertório a nível vocal e dramático para o recital entrelaça-se com a pesquisa teórica que fundamenta as escolhas musicais. Os principais objetivos são compreender a complexidade das Mad Scenes no repertório belcantista, oferecer uma análise detalhada de cada uma delas, e explorar as relações entre a técnica vocal e a construção emocional das personagens. O trabalho contribuirá para a comunidade científica e artística ao preencher a lacuna na análise psicológica das personagens dessas óperas e na reflexão sobre os recursos interpretativos necessários para abordá-las adequadamente. Além disso, o processo de investigação proporcionará uma evolução significativa da minha própria prática artística, com implicações tanto no desenvolvimento da minha técnica vocal quanto na interpretação de papéis dramáticos. O objeto de estudo será a investigação das Mad Scenes, com ênfase na análise musical e dramática de personagens femininas que atravessam momentos de loucura e desespero nas óperas do período romântico. A dissertação também se propõe a explorar a inter-relação entre a música, a interpretação dramática e o contexto psicológico das personagens, observando como a loucura é abordada tanto a nível musical quanto performativo.The dissertation is divided into two interconnected parts: the first is theoretical in nature, and the second is practical, focusing on vocal interpretation. The main goal of this research is to analyze the representations of madness in female characters in Romantic operas, exploring how this theme reflects and, at the same time, questions the social and cultural norms of the time. To this end, the analysis of the repertoire in terms of vocal and dramatic aspects for the recital intertwines with the theoretical research that supports the musical choices.The main objectives are to understand the complexity of the Mad Scenes in the bel canto repertoire, offer a detailed analysis of each of them, and explore the relationship between vocal technique and the emotional construction of the characters. The subject of study will be the investigation of the Mad Scenes, with an emphasis on the musical and dramatic analysis of female characters who go through moments of madness and despair in operas from the Romantic period. The dissertation also aims to explore the interrelation between music, dramatic interpretation, and the psychological context of the characters, observing how madness is approached both musically and performatively. The work will contribute to the scientific and artistic community by filling the gap in the psychological analysis of the characters in these operas and in the reflection on the interpretative resources needed to address them appropriately.
