Complementarmente este trabalho procura, também, identificar os fatores que poderão por um lado facilitar, e por outro condicionar o sucesso da missão internacional. O método privilegiado para a realização do estudo foi o qualitativo, com recurso à entrevista semiestruturada como técnica de recolha de informação. No total foram realizadas no total 19 entrevistas a expatriados Portugueses nos Países Árabes do Médio Oriente, nomeadamente no Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Omã, Bahrain e Arábia Saudita. Os resultados obtidos ajudam a compreender que o principal fator facilitador do ajustamento intercultural dos expatriados Portugueses à cultura Árabe é a língua, sendo que o fator religioso prevalece como principal fator condicionante. No que respeita à perceção dos expatriados Portugueses relativamente ao apoio organizacional no ajustamento intercultural ao Médio Oriente, o sentimento generalizado é o de que esse apoio organizacional foi praticamente inexistente. Na parte final da dissertação são apresentadas as conclusões deste estudo, as principais limitações e pistas de investigação futura.The principal aim of this study is to understand the process of intercultural adjustment of the Portuguese expatriates to the culture in the Middle East. Additionally, the present work seeks, as well, to identify the factors that, on the one side, can facilitate, and, on the other side, condition the success of the international mission. The privileged method for conducting the study, was the qualitative method, using the semi-structured interview as a technique for collecting information. In total, 19 interviews with Portuguese expatriates in Middle Eastern Arab countries were conducted, particularly in Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The results obtained, help us understand that the main facilitating factor for the intercultural adjustment of the Portuguese expatriates to the Arab culture is the language, being that the religious factor prevails as the main conditioning factor. With regards to the perception of the Portuguese expatriates in relation to the organizational support on the intercultural adjustment to the Middle East, the general feeling is that this support has been inexistent.
