No presente trabalho pretende-se conhecer os modelos de gestão e manutenção de infraestruturas adotados nas Instituições de Ensino Superior em Portugal, conhecer o estado de arte nesta área e identificar as melhores práticas. A metodologia adotada combina uma abordagem qualitativa e uma abordagem quantitativa, fazendo uso de métodos mistos de investigação (mixed methods). Este estudo permite detetar divergências entre as estratégias adotadas nas instituições envolvidas, as melhores práticas referenciadas na literatura e aquelas que os respetivos gestores reconhecem como adequadas.Nowadays, the challenges arising from the diversity and complexity of facilities, regulations, legislation and the very image of the institutions constitute a diverse and technically demanding scenario that justifies a clear and coherent approach to infrastructure management and its maintenance.
