O objetivo é obter informações sobre a infraestrutura do porto, operações e potenciais melhorias para aumentar a sua eficiência e conectividade. Para atingir este objetivo, foi realizado uma entrevista com guião semiestruturado, dirigido a cinco grandes representantes do transporte intermodal relacionados com o Porto de Leixões. O guião foi aplicado em 5 entrevistas, onde foi possível a recolha de dados, fornecendo dados qualitativos valiosos para análise. As discussões giram em torno de vários aspetos fundamentais. Em primeiro lugar, é avaliada a infraestrutura existente no inland do Porto de Leixões, considerando a conectividade ferroviária, as instalações do terminal e as operações logísticas. Em segundo lugar, são examinados os desafios e constrangimentos enfrentados pelo porto no seu transporte ferroviário, abrangendo questões como restrições de capacidade, limitações de infraestruturas e quadros regulamentares. Através de uma análise e interpretação rigorosas dos dados, esta investigação apresenta conclusões significativas. Os resultados apresentam o estado atual do transporte ferroviário no inland do Porto de Leixões e identificam potenciais áreas de melhoria. Em particular, o estudo revela a importância de resolver os constrangimentos da infraestrutura e otimizar as operações do terminal ferroviário para melhorar a conectividade intermodal do porto. Os principais pontos destacados nesta dissertação são a importância do transporte ferroviário no contexto das operações intermodais em Leixões, a identificação dos principais desafios enfrentados pelo porto e as potenciais estratégias para ultrapassar esses obstáculos. Além disso, o estudo enfatiza a necessidade de esforços de colaboração entre as partes interessadas para promover a eficiência intermodal e explorar oportunidades de crescimento intermodal. Em conclusão, esta investigação fornece uma caracterização abrangente do inland do Porto de Leixões no transporte intermodal, com um foco específico no transporte ferroviário. Os métodos utilizados, incluindo entrevistas com um guião semiestruturado dirigido aos representantes dos transportes intermodais, permitiram uma análise detalhada da infraestrutura do porto, dos desafios e das potenciais melhorias. As conclusões sublinham a importância de melhorar a conectividade ferroviária e a eficiência operacional para maximizar as capacidades intermodais do porto. Esta investigação contribui com informações valiosas para os intervenientes e decisores políticos envolvidos no desenvolvimento e otimização dos sistemas de transporte intermodal.This thesis aims to comprehensively characterize the Leixões inland port in intermodal transportation, emphasizing on rail transport. The objective is to gain insights into the port's intermodal infrastructure, operations, and potential improvements to enhance its efficiency and connectivity. A semi-structured inquiry was conducted to achieve this objective, targeting four major players involved in intermodal transportation related to the Leixões inland port. The inquiry included interviews, surveys, and data collection, providing valuable qualitative data for analysis. The discussions were developed around several key aspects. Firstly, the existing intermodal infrastructure at the Leixões inland port is assessed, considering rail connectivity, terminal facilities, and logistical operations. Secondly, the challenges and bottlenecks faced by the port in its rail transportation are examined, encompassing issues such as capacity constraints, infrastructure limitations, and regulatory frameworks. Through rigorous data analysis and interpretation, this research presents significant findings. The results shed light on the current state of rail transport at the Leixões inland port and identify potential areas for improvement. Notably, the study reveals the importance of addressing infrastructure constraints and optimizing rail terminal operations to enhance the port's intermodal connectivity.
